Laughter meditation: returning to the source of joy
There is a source of light within each of us – and its name is laughter. It’s not just a sound or an emotion. It is the energy of life, a flash of awareness, the soul’s dance in the moment. When you laugh sincerely, for no reason – you come closer to the Divine.
Laughter meditation is a return to yourself, to your own truth, to your inner child who hasn’t forgotten how to rejoice for no reason.
It is a release from tension, fears, the controlling mind. It is breathing with the heart.
At first, it might feel awkward, but if you allow yourself to laugh – laughter begins to flow on its own. It becomes a stream that carries away all that is heavy, dark, and made-up. You don’t laugh at something – you laugh from within, for no reason. And that means – from your very essence.
"Laughter is a prayer. Laughter is light. Laughter is silence blooming like a flower."
When the body laughs – the heart heals.
When the heart laughs – the ego dissolves.
When the soul laughs – you become one with the Source.
In the East they say: "Laughter cleanses deeper than tears." In it there is lightness, wisdom, and deep silence. After a good laughter meditation, you enter a state of peace, as if the whole Universe smiled inside you.
In the space of the Prayas center, we allow ourselves this celebration. We return to laughter its sacred meaning – not as entertainment, but as a gateway to awakening.
Laugh. Deeply. For no reason. Surrender to the flow. And you will know what true freedom is.
Awakening Through Childlike Laughter
Imagine: even before the first ray of light touches your eyelashes, you already open the door to your inner sun. Let this dawn begin not with thoughts about tasks, but with a dance of the body and ringing laughter.
• Cat’s Awakening
As soon as your consciousness surfaces from dreams, without opening your eyes, stretch – slowly, sensually, with every cell. Imagine you are a cat on a warm windowsill in the morning sun. Let a wave of pleasant tension flow from your toes to the tips of your fingers, straightening every muscle fiber. Do this for 3–4 minutes – and you will feel how your body fills with vital energy.
• Dawn of Laughter
Then, still with your eyes closed, let the first sound emerge. It may be a quiet giggle or a gentle purr. Don’t strive for the "right" kind of laughter – just allow it to be. At first, it might feel like an illusion, a game, but soon a miracle will happen: the laughter will become real. It will rise from the depths of your belly, reach your chest, and scatter like crystal sparks all over your body.
• Five Minutes of Divine Childhood
Laugh – for five minutes. Lose yourself in this flow. Let your roles, worries, and time disappear. In these moments, you are a pure vibration of the Universe, joyful and serene, like a child who has just opened their eyes to the world.
A Quiet Lake After the Storm
When the laughter fades on its own, stay a bit longer in the sweet whisper of silence. Feel how inside, the quiet surface of the lake straightens out. It is in this silence that a new vibration of the day grows – light, clear, filled with inner light.
How does it work?
• Laughter – the alchemist of tension: it melts frozen blocks, turning heaviness into lightness.
• The body remembers joy: when your muscles smile, the brain reads it as a message of happiness and releases bliss hormones.
• The spirit opens up: serene laughter takes us beyond the mind, into a space where there are no problems – only pure “here and now” energy.
After a few days of practice, laughter becomes spontaneous, like breathing. You’ll notice that you wake up with a smile even before the alarm rings. In these morning moments, the whole world feels like your ally: colors are brighter, people are kinder, and the tasks of the day turn into a game.
Laughter meditation: a path to freedom through cleansing and joy
Laughter is not just a sound. It is a wave of life passing through us. It is an inner flower that blooms when blocks, fears, and tensions disappear.
Laughter meditation is a medicine. And not just one of many… but the simplest and most accessible for everyone.
It doesn’t require analysis. It doesn’t require effort. It requires only one thing – an open space inside.
But what if laughter won’t come? If it feels fake, gets stuck in your throat, doesn’t reach your heart?
The master offers a simple, ancient, yet effective cleansing technique from yoga.
Morning cleansing practice – open the path to laughter
Early in the morning, before eating and even before meditation, fill a jug with warm water and salt. Drink as much as you can – quickly and decisively.
Then lean forward slightly and let the water come back out. With the water, inner tensions leave, energy blocks dissolve, and your breathing channels are freed.
Everything that blocked your freedom – begins to disappear.
You will feel purity, lightness, and an unknown calm. Laughter, tears, speech – everything will begin to flow not from the surface, but from the depth. From the very heart.
Laughter as the Breath of the Soul
After this cleansing, try to sit down, close your eyes, and just start laughing. It doesn’t matter if it’s fake or not. Laughter will come. It always comes. That’s its nature – to be alive when you don’t interfere.
Do this practice for 10 days in a row, and you will discover laughter within yourself that you never knew before. Laughter that doesn’t depend on jokes.
Laughter born from emptiness.
Laughter like a wordless prayer.
"Forget about your problems. Just move into meditation. Laughter is your way home."
Let every morning become a cleansing. Let every laugh become a healing. Let every drop of joy bring you back to where you are real, pure, and free.
